“Yooohooo – so we got the permission. And we already have those required to get to Cape Verde. So it’s off to Accra, and all things being fair, off to Cape Verde the next morning, even earlier.
We made the most of the day – walked more than 15 km past the President’s house, Fortaleza do Sao Miguel, around Luanda Bay and on to Ponto Final at the end of Ilha do Cabo. Swam, had steak and chips on the beach washed down with beer, worked out a bit at the outdoor gym and saw the sights. Vibrant, dirty, lots of buildings, open sewers, brand new Landcruisers, abandoned cars, volleyball on the beach, artisanal fishermen, homemade wheelbarrows, very expensive restaurants, hustlers, markets, stray dogs, wine shops, shiny glasses, shirtless kids and shanty-towns. A very exciting world – what will it look like in 20 years?
Some of my telephone shots that give the idea…”
