Wow what a day! Here is a picture log of the adventure so far!
So today was a very long day. The Sling Racing Team all met at The Airplane Factory at 06h30 this morning and set off for Upington flying in close formation, providing some excellent air to air photo opportunities (take a look at the album below). It didnt take long for Andrew Lane to call in a pit stop so we all put down and had a cup of coffee. We got into the longest runway in the world (6 kms long and an alternative landing base for the space shuttle) and filled up with the cheapest Avgas in the country at about 12pm. The rest of the day was spent at registration and having our planes inspected and tested. Our handicaps are a bit harsh but we are in good spirits. We are now at our hotel pouring over our maps, planning our race, marking our maps and trying to find as many identifying marks on this sandpaper landscape as possible. We are back at the airport tomorrow morning for a 09h30 briefing, and then the race starts at 11h30. Internet is limited up here so next update will probably only be tomorrow night. Thanks for all the messages and support from all of you, we will do our best!
